Modeling and Performance Assessment of the Split-Pi Used as a Storage Converter in All the Possible DC Microgrid Scenarios. Part II: Simulation and Experimental Results

Bidirectional DC/DC converters such as the Split-pi can be used to integrate an energy storage system (ESS) into a DC microgrid providing manifold benefits. However, this integration deserves careful design because ESS converter must behave like stiff voltage generator, non-stiff or current generator depending on configuration. Part I of work presented comprehensive theoretical analysis in all possible scenarios. Five typical scenarios were identified. Each them required specific state-space model and suitable control scheme. The present paper completes study validating based simulations experimental tests. chosen case encompassed 48 V, 750 W interfaced with 180 V using converter. It represent reduced-power prototype terrestrial marine microgrids. A prototypal was realized lab, several tests performed assess performance each scenario. results obtained from coherent validated study.
